Black and White

Last month we helped Trek launch there all new Madone line of competition road racing bikes. Well Trek hasn't stopped there. Just days ago Trek released it's new line of entry level performance road bikes and we've got them in stock. Trek took a few hints from it's dealer's that perform custom bike fitting when they designed the new lineup. The all new 2008 Trek 1.2 (pictured top left) fits the riding position almost identically to the 2007 Trek 1000 (pictured top right), but that's where the similarities stop.

The difference between the 2007 and 2008 line is as different as black and white. Like it's Madone big brother, the 1.2 get's a 30mm taller headtube (Performance geometry). What that means to you is a much more comfortable fit while still maintaining a bike the looks sleek and fast. The slightly shorter seattube offers a bit more adjustability and creates a smoother more comfortable ride as well. But don't be fooled by the look, this is not a compact geometry road frame. The 1.2 still comes in a full range of 7 frame sizes so you get the optimum fit desired. At only $770, the Trek 1.2 is bound to grab the attention of riders looking to get into road cycling. Upgrades for 2008 include a new Sora rear derailleur, oversized handlebar and stem. Plus, the 1.2 still comes with Trek's carbon fork and seatpost that decrease high frequency road vibration.

The difference is clear, good position, fast looks!

Livestrong, Ridestrong

The Livestrong ride was a huge success this past Saturday. Over a hundred Omaha cyclists took part in bike rides and enjoyed pancakes from the Pancake Man. Mike, Stacey and crew did a great job getting this event together and we were proud to be a part of it. Keep an eye on the calendar for next years event.

Tour Farewell Ride

Like so many good things, the final three weeks in July and therefore the Tour de France are coming to an end. While many of you will fall into a deep depression, finding nothing to replace the hours and hours of coverage, recaps and Roll-isms, others will look back on the blood, sweat, and tears left on the roads of the Alps and be thankful (for the riders' sake) that its over.

To say good-bye in proper fashion, Trek Omaha and Highgear would like to invite you to a farewell ride on the Tour's final day. Join us Sunday the 29nd at 8:00 am for a no drop road ride leaving from Highgear with coffee, bagels, and the Tour finale to follow.
