Best of the big-wheel scene

We're well into 2010, but here's a look back at a highlight of 2009:

The readers at twentynininches.com chose their top products, and we're proud to carry two of the top three.

No. 3: The Gary Fisher Superfly 100. Full-suspension, full-carbon. Fully awesome.

No. 1: Bontrager 29-3 tires. The best rubber for the big wheels.

Check out the link here, or check out the goods in-store. We're proud to carry the best!

Feel the squeeze

Much like power meters took the competitive cycling world by storm a few years ago, compression clothing is the next big thing.

Through targeted and precise pressure, compression garments help boost muscle power, lessen muscle fatigue and shorten recovery time. The key is using compression to enhance blood flow to and from muscles. Oxygen is more efficiently delivered and lactic acid is more quickly removed.

We're happy to have in stock several items from Skins, a leading manufacturer of compression garments (Team HTC-Columbia uses Skins, by the way).

Compression garments are perfect for:

-- Racers, both mountain and road. A two-race weekend will feel a lot better when your legs can bounce back quickly from a hard effort on day one.
-- Triathletes. What better way to recover from strenuous brick workouts than using compression to remove lactic acid?
-- Anybody who wants to ride stronger and recover faster.

Click this link for more information, or stop in and check out the Skins product line. We have long tights and sleeveless shirts for men, capri tights for women and unisex sox.

Just to clear up a few things ...

We've had a couple of calls lately and a few comments about Highgear's upcoming move. Since it's getting close, we thought it was time to answer a few questions.

1. We're not moving, Highgear is. Details are here (links to a PDF).

2. Highgear will also be called the Trek Bicycle Store of Omaha. The staff will still offer the same expert service and do everything possible to keep you and your bike happy for years to come.

3. Again, we're not moving and we're not closing.

If you have any questions, do let us know. We're all excited about the next chapter for the Trek Bicycle Stores of Omaha.

Hot off the assembly line

This was a fun bike to see come together: A 2010 Trek Madone 6 Series, with SRAM Red, Mavic Ksyrium SL wheels, Shimano Dura-Ace pedals, Bontrager RXL carbon cages and a Bontrager Node 2 integrated computer system.

Wow.

You can have one, too. Until Feb. 1, you can get one year of no interest, and no payments on a Trek Project One Madone. But on Feb. 1, the special financing goes away forever. Don't miss out on your dream ride!

Coming soon ...

Had your eyes on snowshoes for a while but wondered if it would be worth it?

This might be the winter to take the plunge. This snow isn't going anywhere for a long, long while. So instead of staying inside all the time, get out and have some fun.

We'll have Atlas 9 Series snowshoes in stock soon (tentatively January 13) for men and women. They'll be a part of a kit that includes a pair of snowshoes, poles and a storage/carrying bag. They'll be priced at $200 for the whole works.

If you want to read up on them before coming in, the goods are here.
